Who are we?
The authors of this website are a collection of three graduate students from the University of Washington. The creation and production of this website is a part of the graduate curriculum for Biomedical Informatics & Medical Education 535: Clinical Care and Informatics. The goal of this website is for us to create informative modules which address a handful of the shortcomings of the US healthcare system from the lens of clinical informatics. Essentially: how can the collection and presentation of clinical data be optimized such to improve the overall efficacy of US healthcare both for patients and providers?
The modules and articles in this website are written with the goal of being digestible to anyone who is new to clinical informatics and/or the inner-workings of the US healthcare system. We hope these modules can be informative to newcomers of healthcare-oriented informatics and provide a foundation for future, higher-level discussions around improving healthcare quality in the US. The information within these modules was collected and published in the spring of 2020.
